Good Shepherd Appeal 2008

Your school's way to tranform other children's lives

Thank you for visiting samspage. The Catholic Children's Society is your regional Catholic social care charity covering the dioceses of Arundel & Brighton, Portsmouth and Southwark. We offer our care services to all, irrespective of faith background.

The Good Shepherd Appeal takes in schools each Lent. This year 'Sam the Sheep' is once again helping children to reflect on the issues relating to our work of supporting vulnerable children and families. Our 'Fruit Baa Baas' collecting box aims to help children understand the connection between Lenten self-denial and helping others.

Can you help us raise £100,000 this year? The money raised goes towards helping children in this region, quite possibly in your locality. Unlike many national charities, our voluntary income is almost entirely dependent on the generosity of Catholic schools and parishes.

Schools participate in many different ways. Not only do schools use our collecting boxes to raise money but some schools also complete their own fundraising events from sponsored runs to musical performances. For more ideas on possible fundraising events, visit our Help Out page. Contact Ann Hoggan on 020 8668 2181 or email: ann.hoggan@cathchild.org if you would like a copy of our Sam the Sheep Fundraising Pack or any assistance with your fundraising event.

Follow-up material for RE & PSHE
The social issues which relate to our work are often quite sensitive and need handling with care. To help you, we've devised some Follow-up RE lessons for KS1 & 2 and a PSHE lesson for KS3. We'd also be delighted to give an assembly or talk in your school. Just contact us on 020 8668 2181 or email Ann Hoggan today!
